MODERNISM IN TERUEL

At the beginning of the 20th century, Spain experienced a period of economic boom and the city of Teruel was no exception. The mercantile bourgeoisie showed off their wealth by constructing opulent residences or buildings for their businesses. A new style, Modernism, where Pablo Monguió is the architect par excellence of the modernist style in Teruel with very distinct characteristics. Don´t miss these catalogued buildings:

MUDEJAR ART IN TERUEL

Teruel is one of the cities with the most Mudejar art in Spain, an artistic expression that comes from a society in which Christians, Moors and Jews lived together. The presence of ornamentation is essential in Mudejar art, as we can see in the Cathedral of Santa María or in the Torre de San Martín. Don´t miss these emblematic buildings:

CERAMIC MURALS IN CONCUD

In the town of Concud is home to one of the most important fossil deposits in Spain, “El Cerro de la Garita y el Barranco de las Calaveras”. The ceramist Fernando Torrent created this series of outdoor murals in collaboration with the Concud town hall that represent animals from fossils found in the town. Throughout the town you can ceramic murals of a bear, a giraffe and a wild boar among others.

Albarracín

One of the most beautiful towns in the province of Teruel and former capital of the taifa kingdom, Albarracín has preserved all its Islamic and medieval flavor, and its old town has been declared part of Spain´s National Heritage of Cultural Interest.

It is located 30 minutes by car from the capital of Teruel and the first thing that surprises you when you arrive at the town of Albarracín is its imposing fortified enclosure and its Cathedral El Salvador. Highlights:
